Description

POSITION SUMMARY

Limited Relief Direct Support Professionals (LRDSPs) provide support and services directly to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) in a variety of settings. The DSP’s role is to support each person to reach the highest possible level of independence, community involvement, and economic freedom. The aim is for each person receiving services to direct their own activities and create a meaningful life, including developing unpaid relationships. Support may include providing personal care, assistance with daily living activities, job coaching, teaching/developing skills, advocating with the person, assisting with communication and self expression, and ultimately supporting the person to meet their own goals. The LRDSP schedule may change frequently, as they will fill staffing shortages on an as-needed basis. 30 hours of shifts weekly are guaranteed.

In order to be LRDSP, an employee must agree to work in any program in one pod (there are two pods) or if working across pods, must agree to work in at least 5 programs. There are two types of LRDSP, only one type can be claimed per employee:, Shift Limited–relief only for only 2 of 3 specified shift types (day+swing able, or swing+noc able), Workday Limited–relief only for specific days of week (4 days per week is the minimum number to be considered relief, and one weekend day must be included). No LRDSP can combine both position types, e.g., you cannot be both workday and shift limited.
