Under the guidance of Vasant Lad, BAM&S, MASc, Ayurprana offers health coaching, interactive webinars, and impactful online educational courses to help people live optimally. Ayurprana is now opening a facility called So-Hum Mountain Healing Resort, that will help facilitate healing at all levels for an individual to release body work, detox panchakarma therapies, and educational class (yoga, breath work, meditation, nutrition, etc…) to help support an individual in his / her healing process. 

Nestled in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Sohum Mountain Healing is a space where nature and ancient wisdom come together to create transformational experiences. We offer healing experiences that promise to rejuvenate the mind, body, and spirit. Guest can spend their days immersed in the timeless wisdom of Ayurveda and Yoga to allow themselves a space to reflect, heal, and awaken to a greater sense of Self. 

Position Statement

A Line Cook reports to the Executive Chef and General Manager and is responsible for Elevating Conscience and fostering the AyurPrana Wellness Center culture within all the business units for AyurPrana. The Line Cook must ignite the human spirit by creating unrivaled customer and employee experiences fueled by fun, enthusiasm and compassion that challenge each person to unlock their own potential. 

The Line Cook plays an integral role in the successful operation and administration of the kitchen and dining room creating an unrivaled experience for our guests. This role is responsible in assisting the Executive Chef with line prep to ensure quality. This role also has responsibilities of Server and Busser when needed ensuring all guests are provided excellent and expedient service executing the highest level of professionalism and courtesy. This role ensures a clean and sanitized kitchen by executing proper cleaning and sanitation of kitchen cookware, china, and flatware. The Line Cook must ensure that our associates and our clients are treated with the utmost respect at all times since they are the key to our success.

Primary Duties

  • Foster the AyurPrana Wellness Center culture

  • Ensure compliance with business standards and procedures
  • Maintain effective and open communication
  • Foster teamwork 
  • Must possess high energy, professionalism and confidence every day and in every way
  • Be highly motivated and enthusiastic
  • Prepare food items that are prepared ahead of time ensuring to not over prepare estimated needs
  • Date all food containers and rotate to ensure all perishables are kept at proper temperatures
  • Check pars for shift use; determine necessary preparation, freezer pull and line set up
  • Maintain a safe working environment through compliance of safety and health department guidelines
  • Understand and comply with emergency procedures
  • Attend meeting before events to understand function and menus
  • Serve guests during dining functions to ensure positive guest experience
  • Serve food and/or beverage in order and to the expectation of guest expectations
  • Ability to remember, recite and promote the variety of menu items
  • Ability to transport up to 30 lbs. through a crowded room on a continuous basis
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Promptly remove dishes as guests complete each course and/or meal 
  • Removes full tubs from bus stations to dishwashing area
  • Retrieves cleaned dishes, glassware and utensils from dish room and distributes to each station
  • Gathers all dirty dishware from tubs brought to the dish room, rinses and stacks in dish racks
  • Clear dishes of leftovers and trash in order to prepare for automated washing
  • Unloads clean dishes from racks after washed and inspect for cleanliness and stack on shelves
  • Manually scrub pots, pans and other kitchen equipment that cannot be washed automatically
  • Maintain dishwashing equipment in good condition
  • Keep dish room in clean and orderly condition at all times and in compliance with health department
  • Maintains clean flooring in function area at end of shift
  • Ability to access and accurately input computer information
  • Must be capable to successfully prioritize, delegate, organize and multi-task 
  • Ability to effectively display a high level of patience with clients in highly charged times
  • Interact positively with guests and take action to resolve issues to maintain high guest satisfaction
  • Greet guests immediately with a friendly and sincere welcome
  • Respond with appropriate action to guest’s requests and provide accurate information
  • Must maintain a safe working environment through ongoing compliance of safety guidelines
  • Treat clients, guests, associates, vendors and co-workers with professionalism and respect at all times
  • Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis
  • Professional and concise written and verbal communication skills 
  • Perform other tasks that are deemed necessary to the success of the retreat center and the associates 

Schedule:

Sunday 6:30am to 2:30pm
Monday 6:30am to 2:30pm
Tues off (or 12pm to 2:30pm)
Wed off  
Thur 12pm to 8pm
Fri 12 pm to 8pm
Sat off 

Requirements

Physical Requirements - (not limited to)

  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 75 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand, stoop, bend, crawl, reach above and below shoulders, repetitive arm and wrist use, climb ladders and stairs, and walk on uneven surfaces.
  • Must be able to recognize, register, and respond visually to color and depth perception.
  • Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing. 
  • Must be able to work indoor, outdoor, in extreme heat and cold.
  • Must be able to work around moderate noise level.
