About the Organization


Liberty Dogs™ is a premier Service Dog training program whose goal is to empower Veterans with disabilities to lead more independent and fulfilling lives - enhancing their well-being through the unconditional support that Liberty Service Dogs provide.  Located on a 27-acre campus, it includes a training facility, dog housing, an administrative and multipurpose building, and accommodations for Veterans staying on campus to train with their Liberty Service Dogs.



Position Summary:


The Prep / Line Cook supports daily kitchen operations through high-quality food preparation and service execution. This role is primarily prep-driven (approximately 80% prep and 20% line support) and focuses on scratch preparation of ingredients, sauces, batched components, and grab-and-go items.



The position works across multiple stations, including grill, fry, flat top, assembly/build station, cold prep, garde manger, and Rational oven/baking production. Cooks are expected to follow standardized recipes, production lists, and food safety procedures while maintaining clean, organized workstations.



Liberty Dogs operates a scratch-cooking kitchen with a calm, structured, no-chaos service philosophy. This role is designed for professional cooks who can support production readiness and hold stations independently when needed.



Liberty Dogs operates a hybrid foodservice model serving approximately 20 on-site guests per meal period for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, along with a grab-and-go program, catering, and special events.



Key Responsibilities:


Prep & Production



  • Perform vegetable prep, including washing, peeling, cutting, and portioning

  • Prepare sauces, dressings, soups, stocks, bases, and other scratch-made components

  • Operate Rational ovens and support baking and controlled-cook production

  • Produce grab-and-go items and support catering prep

  • Help Maintain Dish pit- includes washing dishes, pots, pans, flatware and maintaining overall cleanliness/organization of dish area.

  • Maintain clean, organized, and properly stocked prep stations


Line & Service



  • Work assigned stations independently

  • Plate and build menu items accurately to recipes and standards

  • Execute dishes according to specs and quality expectations


  • Support multiple stations as needed


Food Safety & Standards



  • Follow recipes, prep lists, and production schedules

  • Label and date all prepared items

  • Complete temperature logs and follow hot/cold holding procedures

  • Follow cleaning schedules and HACCP-style practices

  • Maintain health department compliance and equipment care


Teamwork & Accountability



  • Maintain punctuality, reliability, and professionalism

  • Demonstrate coachability and a team-first mindset

  • Take ownership of prep quality, station readiness, and production accuracy



Required Skills & Qualifications:



  • Minimum 2+ years of professional kitchen experience

  • Basic knife skills and ability to follow recipes and prep lists

  • Experience working a line station and with scratch cooking

  • Familiarity with Rational or combi ovens (preferred)

  • Batch cooking, baking, and catering prep experience preferred

  • Willingness to obtain a Food Handler Card after hire

  • Strong work ethic, reliability, attention to detail, and time management

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • High school diploma or GED required



Physical Demands & Work Environment:



  • Prolonged standing and walking during shifts

  • Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching

  • Working in tight or shared kitchen spaces

  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs; use of carts or dollies for heavy items

  • Must follow all kitchen safety procedures

  • The expected workweek ranges based on operational needs.

  • Additional hours may be required during special events, catering functions, or periods of increased business demand.
