Our Lady of Hope Catholic School seeks a full time Instructional Coach as a key support for teachers to improve student achievement in literacy. The coach’s role is to build teacher capacity and understanding of best practices and high-leverage, data-driven strategies. 

The coach is responsible for ensuring outstanding instruction through modeling, co-planning, co-teaching and providing feedback to teachers. This is NOT a supervisory position and DOES NOT include formal evaluation of teacher colleagues.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ROLES:

  • Build strong relationships with teachers and administrators
  • Support the professional development of all teachers in understanding data analysis and effective literacy practices
  • Provide direction and coordination for teaching the Diocesan curriculum standards through recognized best instructional practices
  • Assist teachers with planning and pacing lessons, development of differentiated lessons, scaffolding, and selection of strategies to meet the needs of students
  • Assist teachers with resources, materials, tools, and information 
  • Model lessons in classrooms on a daily/weekly basis
  • Informally observe lessons and provide feedback for teachers’ professional growth and students’ success
  • Develop staff members’ knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviors through a variety of professional development targeted topics and designs
  • Develop coaching plans for teachers to ensure student improvement
  • Submit a weekly coaching log and any pertinent documentation
  • Support teachers and administrators in using data to improve instruction on all levels. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certified in elementary education and reading/literacy
  • Minimum 5 years’ teaching experience
  • Documentation of successful impact on student achievement
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and strong interpersonal skills, including giving and receiving constructive feedback
  • Proven ability to use student-level data to guide instructional decisions
