JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Draft and respond to written discovery.
• Prepare for and take/defend depositions. 
• Attend court hearings, mediations, settlement conferences, and other court proceedings. 
• Draft pleadings, motions and other court filings. 
• Effectively communicate with clients and the managing attorney(s) to understand the client’s concerns and provide sound legal advice. 
• Analyze, evaluate, synthesize, and research case law, statutes, regulations, and documents impacting the firm’s clients. 
• Strong written and critical thinking skills that lead to comprehensive and persuasive writings. 
• Communicate clearly and logically (both orally and in writing) with clients, courts, and other counsel. 
• Organize and manage documents from multiple sources in the course of multidistrict and other complex litigation. 
• Ability to handle complex problems utilizing initiative, creativity, and sound professional judgment. 
• Work both independently and as a contributing team member.

Requirements

KGSW is seeking an associate level litigation attorney with 2-3 years of solid litigation experience. The candidate must have a Doctor of Jurisprudence (J.D.) from an accredited law school and fully licensed with CA Bar admission. Experience drafting and editing pleadings, briefs and written discovery is required. Experience preparing for and conducting depositions, and preparing for trial, is preferred. The Associate in this position is a self-starter with strong attention to detail and exceptional analytical skills. The ideal candidate can work within a fast-paced, demanding environment and possesses the experience to immediately assume mature files, if needed.
