Job Description - Litigation Attorney

Pay: $125,000.00 - $175,000.00 per year

Location:

This is a hybrid opportunity based in Newport Beach, California, combining in-office collaboration with remote flexibility.

Note:

Candidates must have 4+ years of directly relevant civil litigation experience, a Juris Doctor degree, and an active California Bar license. Significant hands-on experience taking and defending depositions, handling court appearances and mediations, drafting and opposing motions, and independently managing litigation matters is essential.

Job Description

  • Manage litigation matters from case opening through resolution.
  • Counsel clients regarding legal strategy, risks, and recommended courses of action.
  • Take and defend depositions of parties, witnesses, and experts.
  • Prepare and respond to written discovery.
  • Draft motions, oppositions, briefs, memoranda, contracts, and other legal documents.
  • Attend hearings, court appearances, mediations, conferences, and other proceedings.
  • Review discovery materials and develop effective litigation strategies.
  • Research statutes, case law, and court rulings and identify potential legal risks.
  • Prepare comprehensive trial briefs and other trial materials.
  • Represent clients in hearings, trials, and other legal proceedings.
  • Maintain organized case files, deadlines, and matter status from opening through close.
  • Communicate regularly with clients regarding case developments and strategy.
  • Collaborate closely with attorneys and legal support professionals.
  • Meet an annual billable requirement of approximately 1,900 hours.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of civil litigation experience.
  • Active California Bar license required.
  • Juris Doctor degree required.
  • Significant experience taking and defending depositions.
  • Strong experience with discovery, motion practice, mediations, and court appearances.
  • Construction defect, general liability, personal injury, or business litigation experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong legal research, writing, analytical, persuasion, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to independently manage litigation matters and competing deadlines.
  • Excellent client communication and relationship-management skills.
  • Strong organization, judgment, professionalism, and attention to detail.
  • Administrative or managerial experience preferred.

  • Salary Bands (Only if attorney role): 4 to 7 years $125K to $145K;
