The Litigation Paralegal must have case management experience in Florida personal injury cases, including experience ordering, reviewing, and analyzing medical records, drafting and filing complaints in state and federal court, and preparing and responding to discovery. The position requires strong computer skills with working knowledge of MS Office Suite (Excel, Word & Outlook), case management programs (Filevine), ability to prioritize, organize, and independently manage work load while taking initiative to anticipate future tasks.

Job Duties

• Extensive communication with clients, adjusters, opposing counsel
• Maintain client files ensuring cases are moving towards resolution
• Draft pleadings, complaints, discovery requests and responses, correspondence, other legal documents
• Prepare materials for attorneys attending hearings, depositions, mediations, and client meetings
• Must be able to work independently on pleadings, E-discovery, document review, case management, file organization, investigations, research and trial support.
• In office availability M-F for training, with the ability to work remote 
• Overtime offered as needed

Requirements

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree/Associate Degree or related preferred
• 2+ years of experience in civil litigation is strongly preferred and familiarity with managing a Plaintiff’s personal injury caseload is required 
• Paralegal Certification a plus
• Working knowledge of Florida automobile insurance, Rules of Civil Procedure, Statutes, and E-filing
• Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office, OneDrive and Cloud Based Practice Management software
• Proficiency in drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery
• Experience preparing for mediations and trials is preferred
• Critical thinking, professionalism, strong decision-making skills, and attention to detail
• Ability to multi-task and work efficiently in a challenging legal environment
•  Bilingual - Fluency in both English and Spanish is preferred.

• Employer contributes 60% of the lowest priced plan for employee.

Group Term Life Insurance

• Employer pays 100% towards a 15K term life policy.

401K Plan

• Retirement plan offered through John Hancock (pre-tax and Roth plans offered)
• Employer will make a contribution equal to 3% of your compensation. This contribution is fully vested.

Requirements are:

1. Attainment of age 21
2. Completion of one (1) year of service
3. 1,000 hours of service

Profit Sharing Plan

• Dependent upon Employer and company’s yearly profit

Paid Time Off 

• 40 hours (5 days) to use throughout your first year of employment
• Additional time accrued on each employment anniversary based upon tenure
• Carryover of unused hours available 

Paid Holidays 

• Six (6) major holidays are paid: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving      (including the day after Thanksgiving), and Christmas 

Floating Holiday

• One (1) floating holiday is earned at the beginning of each calendar year (Jan 1) to be used throughout the calendar year.
• If not used within the calendar year, this benefit is lost.
