Job Summary

The Litigation Paralegal will be a key partner in the Midea America Corp. Legal team, supporting the company's continued corporate growth. This position reports to the Chief Litigation Counsel and includes advising on litigation matters and legal operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manages insurance brokers, insurance companies, factories, third party administrators in timely and strategic claim handling with a view towards reducing claim costs, volumes, cost per claim and other claim related metrics.


• Assist with fact investigations related to assigned litigation matters with a focus on product liability matters


• Work on discovery related to litigation, including gathering information, responding to discovery and e-discovery requests, and participating in depositions


• Providing legal support to the handling of pre-litigation product liability claims, including researching and advising on legal matters, reviewing settlement agreements/releases, coordinating payments and, on occasion participating scene and lab examinations, etc.


• Maintain a database of all active litigation


• Reviews and approve invoices to assure accuracy, compliance with claim handling protocols and handles any claim reviews and audits


• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Bachelor Degree


• Fluency in written and spoken Mandarin


• Proven experience working at a law firm or in-house legal department for 2+ years.


• Previous experience with product liability, business litigation, and regulatory compliance is strongly preferred.


• Strong ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, prioritize workload, and be a flexible multi-tasker who is able to juggle shifting priorities and tasks.


• Detail-oriented, with excellent communication skills to interact with internal and external stakeholders. Comfortable interacting with all levels within the organization and working cross-functionally and tailoring legal advice accordingly.


• Must be proactive and intellectually curious.


• Must have a high degree of professionalism, a strong sense of integrity, and strict confidentiality


• Proficiency in MS Office programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.
