Job Description - Litigation Paralegal

Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year

Location: Chicago, IL. This position begins with an in-office onboarding period for the first 90 days. After onboarding, the role transitions to a hybrid schedule with three days per week in the office, offering a strong balance of collaboration and flexibility.

Note: Candidates must have 3+ years of experience working as a litigation paralegal and be comfortable managing court filings, litigation documents, case deadlines, discovery, and multiple active matters. Employment law experience is a plus, but it is not required.

Job Description

  • E-file pleadings and other documents with state and federal courts.
  • Draft demand letters, complaints, motions, discovery requests, discovery responses, and other litigation documents.
  • Assist with administrative agency charges and responses, including matters involving the EEOC and similar agencies.
  • Review, organize, and index discovery materials.
  • Manage multiple client matters, case activity, deadlines, and file documentation with limited supervision.
  • Calculate litigation deadlines and maintain accurate calendars within case management systems.
  • Conduct occasional legal research and assist attorneys with case preparation.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, attorneys, opposing counsel, co-counsel, courts, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain timely billing entries and support an average billing expectation of approximately 25 hours per week.
  • Participate actively in team meetings and contribute ideas and solutions to litigation challenges.
  • Assist with training and supporting new team members as needed.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of litigation paralegal experience required.
  • Strong litigation drafting, e-filing, calendaring, discovery, and case management skills.
  • Excellent critical thinking, organization, communication, and time-management abilities.
  • Ability to independently prioritize multiple time-sensitive matters while collaborating effectively with attorneys and staff.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, case management systems, and electronic court filing platforms.
  • Strong written communication, research, and analytical skills.
  • Employment law experience preferred.
  • Experience with EEOC or similar administrative agency matters preferred.
  • Paralegal certification preferred.
  • Supervisory, training, or mentoring experience strongly preferred.
