Liturgy Coordinator

Employment Status: Part-Time

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (Hourly)

Schedule: ex: Monday – Friday 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. /20 hours per week

Reports to: Director of Liturgy

SUMMARY

The Liturgy Coordinator’s primary responsibility is to assist in the smooth flow of the liturgical ministry of the parish. This Coordinator works with the Parish Pastor, Vicar and Director of Liturgy to determine policies relating to the liturgical celebrations of the parish, and to plan the seasonal liturgical celebrations. Coordinates and implements the various liturgical ministries.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

*Liturgical Ministers

• Maintains an up-to-date communication database/log and information for all liturgical Ministers
• Utilizes the ministry planning system to coordinate, schedule, and post respective rosters (electronic and physical documents      as necessary) for Sacristans, Mass Coordinators, Lectors, and Eucharistic Ministers, who assist at all Liturgical Celebrations, such as but not limited to:
  • Sunday Masses
  • Sacramental Services and Celebrations (1st Communion, Confessions, Confirmation, etc.)
  • Liturgical Season Special Masses and Celebrations
  • Commissioning Services
• Maintains Liturgical Ministers’ compliance status with the Safe Environment mandates of Archdiocese of San Antonio

*Liturgical Planning 

• Keeps electronic or hard copy scripts on file for respective Liturgies as necessary
• Assists the Director of Liturgy and coordinates, as necessary, with setting up for all Liturgies, worship, and prayer services (including weekly worship binders, weekly sign-in sheets, environment, sacred vessels, church furnishings, notes/instructions, etc.)

*Communication

• Communicate information (weekly schedules, monthly schedules, training dates, procedural updates, etc.) to all liturgical      ministers as directed by Pastor or Director of Liturgy
• Develop and maintain a collaborative communication relationship with the Parish Communications Coordinator, PCC, (the PCC is      the Pastor assigned person to schedule all clergy assignments)
• Communicates procedure notes and requests to visiting Priests and permanent Deacons
• Communicates and maintains the flow of information between the Mass Server Coordinator (a Lay Ministry position) and the      Directors of Liturgy and Sacristans

*Scheduling and Planning

• Assures ministry usage of Ministry Scheduler and that ministers are scheduled for Parish Masses.
• Schedules and plans special sacramental Masses such as 1st Communion and Confirmation

*Other Responsibilities:

· Serve as Sacristan, Lector, Eucharistic Ministers, only as needed

· Any other duties assigned by Director of Liturgy, Priest or Parochial vicar

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES - This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily; must be a practicing Catholic and active in a parish; possess the ability to honor and maintain confidentiality; must work well with people of all walks of life and possess the ability to lead and train liturgical ministers 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required 
• Minimum of 2-4 years' experience in Liturgical Ministry and leading and training liturgical Ministers
• Experience using MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Publisher.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

•  Driver’s License.
