General Responsibilities/Job Summary

Work in a slaughtering establishment performing precision functions involving the preparation of duck. Work may include specialized slaughtering tasks and cutting premium cuts of duck for further processing. The Lead Hand plays an important leadership role in the Production/Packaging/Shipping departments. He/she works in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment and is responsible for overseeing food processing activities in a given department. This person gives direction, trains new employees and directly supports the Department Supervisor.

Requirements

Essential Functions/Duties 

· Delegating tasks and set deadlines for production team by Production Supervisor requests.

· Training team members on all duties of department. 

· Cover team member when they are absent while still overseeing his duties. 

· Oversee day to day performance’s with the Production Supervisor.

· Monitor team performance and report metrics.

· Creating an environment with open communication culture.

· Produce various productivity and usage reports for management review.

· Focus the team on the tasks at hand and/or the internal and external customer requirements.

· Suggest and organize team building activities.

· Fallows all safety policies and procedures; participates with the team to achieve safety goals.

· Support organization and inventory activities.

· Monitor temperatures and levels for scolders and wax tanks through the day and adjust as necessary. 

· Monitor and adjust pickers for the best quality possible

· Maintain a neutral position among the team 

· Know and understand our animal welfare policy.

· Know how to correctly follow Standard Operating Procedures.

· Work as team when the daily production activities require.

· Keep the Supervisor informed of task accomplishments, issues and status.

· Know how to correctly follow Standard Operating Procedures.

· Know the correct PPE for department and enforce company policy

· Work in cold conditions. (under 45 degrees)

· Work in hot conditions. (over 80 degrees)

QUALIFICATIONS: 

· Bilingual in English and Spanish/Preferably 

· Ability to make quick, independent decisions under pressure.

· Team player and ability to effectively communicate with a variety of individuals, problem solve, and resolve conflicts as needed.

· Preferably experience but can teach if needed.

Working Conditions

· Temperatures vary from cold to very hot depending on the seasons and department. Wet and damp. Loud machinery.

· At times work around blood, fecal matter and dust 

· Fast-paced assembly line
