LIVE-IN HOUSE PARENT (FREE HOUSING + $1,000/MONTH PER STUDENT STIPEND)

Location: Staten Island, New York

10-Month Academic Year Position (August 2026 – June 2027)

Help International Students Feel at Home While Studying in the United States

Established in 2011, Apex International Education Partners (APEX) helps U.S. secondary schools recruit and support international students, fostering cultural exchange, diversity, and global understanding. Through our network of partner schools, residential programs, and host family services, we provide students with the support and stability they need to thrive while pursuing their education in the United States.

We are seeking a caring, responsible, and organized Live-In House Parent to create a safe, welcoming, family-style home environment for international high school students attending school in Staten Island, New York.

This role is similar to serving as a host parent, with the added benefit of company-provided housing. The House Parent is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the residence, including maintaining a clean and comfortable home, grocery shopping, meal preparation, transportation support when needed, and ensuring students' safety and well-being throughout the academic year.

The ideal candidate enjoys creating a warm household environment, preparing meals, supporting teenagers from diverse cultural backgrounds, and serving as a dependable adult presence in the home. Mandarin-speaking candidates, married couples, former host families, educators, and individuals with experience caring for teenagers are strongly encouraged to apply.

Ideal for: Chinese-speaking individuals or couples, former host families, retired educators, empty nesters, stay-at-home spouses, caregivers, and others who enjoy creating a warm and welcoming home environment for teenagers studying abroad.

Position Overview

The House Parent serves as the primary adult presence within the residence, ensuring students have a safe, comfortable, and supportive place to live while attending school in the United States.

The residence is located in the prestigious Todt Hill neighborhood of Staten Island and is within walking distance of Staten Island Academy. Students walk to and from school independently, so daily transportation to and from school is not required.

The home currently houses four students and is expected to continue housing four or more students throughout the 2026–2027 academic year.

One approved adult family member (spouse, partner, or sibling) may reside in the home with the House Parent. However, the monthly stipend is paid only to the contracted House Parent.

This position may be well suited for individuals who maintain daytime employment outside the residence, provided they are available each morning until students depart for school, are present for evening responsibilities, and ensure that an approved adult remains in the residence overnight while students are present.

Contract Term

Academic Year (10-Months): Early August 2026 – Mid-June 2027

The per-student stipend structure is designed to support these household responsibilities, with compensation increasing as student occupancy grows.

Occupancy-Based Stipend

Student occupancy may fluctuate throughout the academic year. House Parents receive a stipend of $1,000 per student per month, based on the number of students residing in the home under the House Parent's care.

Compensation is tied directly to student occupancy. When a student does not reside in the home for an entire month, the stipend will be prorated at a rate of $33 per day for each day the student is living in the residence and under the care of the House Parent.

Examples:

  • A student residing in the home for a full month generates the full $1,000 monthly stipend.

  • A student residing in the home for 15 days generates a stipend of $495 (15 days × $33 per day).

  • A student residing in the home for 7 days generates a stipend of $231 (7 days × $33 per day).

As a result, monthly compensation may vary based on student enrollment, occupancy levels, and student arrival and departure dates.

Final candidates will be required to successfully complete background screening and reference checks prior to placement.
