Who We Are:

The HORD team, nationally known for our world class pig production, is currently looking for a Livestock Transport Biosecurity Specialist to add to our livestock transportation team. Headquartered in Bucyrus, OH, this essential position offers training on livestock movement and a supportive team-focused atmosphere.

A Day in the Life:
Our Livestock Transport Biosecurity Specialist generally works M-F, ensuring you have evenings and weekends for family time (some flexibility is required based on load schedules and optimal temperatures for transport of animals). Primary responsibilities include:

Daily trailer inspections and recordkeeping ensuring every trailer meets biosecurity guidelines prior to its next load
Waste storage management at internal trailer wash locations
Maintenance and logs of biodri, pressure washers and Lafferty systems at both washes
Ensure clean and organized storage bays
Occasional transportation of baby pigs weaned from their mothers at our sow farms to our contract grow-to-finish farms within a 75-mile radius
Assist with loading and unloading of animals
Ensure trailers are properly bedded to provide a safe and healthy environment for the animals being moved
Wash trailers to maintain our high standards for cleanliness and herd safety

What You Need:

Attention to detail
Ability to work independently
Experience driving a gooseneck trailer up to 42 feet long
Candidates must not currently own or have routine contact with non-Hord pigs
Ability to lift 55 lbs., climb, bend, sit, and power wash for extended periods of time
Time management skills to ensure loads move on schedule
A high level of respect for team members and animals
Impeccable record of reliability/dependability
Willingness to learn and carry out complex instructions effectively
Basic knowledge of Windows, Excel, and email functions
A minimum of 3 years driving experience and a clean driving record are a must
