Description
Summary/Objective
We are hiring an associate to support auto loan portfolio acquisitions from early deal intake through pricing and data preparation, through closing when loans must be reconciled to the portfolio, funding, and underwriting expectations. You will partner closely with sales, funding, and underwriting to intake the data, offer a bid and clear discrepancies within the portfolio.
Essential Functions
Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Deal intake and pricing support
- Receive deal packages from sales; organize, cleanse, and transform loan-level and collateral data so it conforms to internal model and reporting requirements.
- Run and maintain pricing workflows using internal tools and models; document assumptions, data gaps, and overrides where applicable.
- Apply sound business judgment within constraints set by sales, management, and dealer counterparties (e.g., timing, eligibility, completeness, and deal economics).
- Deliver a valuation recommendation or range to sales with both quantitative support (drivers, sensitivities, key metrics) and qualitative evaluation.
Data quality and reporting
- Perform data quality checks in the CRM and in standard reports; flag inconsistencies, root causes, and remediation paths.
- Maintain clear audit trails: versioned inputs, known issues, and resolution status to reduce downstream impact.
Pre-close portfolio alignment
- Use internal systems to validate the current state of loans relative to what was priced and what is expected in the portfolio.
- Partner with funding and underwriting to resolve discrepancies, exceptions, and open questions; escalate material risks with clear impact on the deal.
Collaboration and communication
- Translate findings into plain-language explanations for sales and external parties where appropriate.
- Manage multiple workstreams under deadlines typical of bulk acquisitions; prioritize based on materiality and closing risk.
Qualifications
Required
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (large datasets, logical checks, reconciliation-style work, XLOOKUP, pivot tables).
- Comfort working with structured data
- Attention to detail; ability to spot anomalies and explain them.
- Clear written and verbal communication; able to defend a view with evidence and acknowledge limitations.
- Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-moving, deadline-driven environment.
- Ability to learn quickly
Preferred
- Curiosity about the auto finance ecosystem: collateral characteristics, credit performance, and how those flow through to portfolio value and company returns.
- Familiarity with concepts such as yield, return, credit risk, and loss behavior (formal finance background not required)
- SQL experience is a plus but not required.
- Power BI (or similar) is a plus but not required.
