The primary function of a Loan Consultant is to explore member financial needs with the intent of fostering a mutually beneficial fiscal relationship between the credit union and the member. In the role of managing the member relationship the Loan Consultant may initiate deposit products as well as loan products (i.e. open accounts).
Duties and Responsibilities
Must have extensive knowledge of products and services (primarily loans) offered by the credit union in order to facilitate a relationship with members and establish the credit union as a resource for financial needs.
Must be able to effectively present the benefits of our products and educated in overcoming objections.
Assist in the loan application process to ease the burden on members. The loan application process should be considered as having been successful if the member’s perception was that it was easy, convenient, and friendly.
Is the main point of member contact throughout the loan process – including notification of the denial if necessary.
Opens new accounts as needed.
Skilled in presenting opportunities where we may be able to assist the member in saving money through the consolidation and/or refinancing of other debts (as presented by the Loan Officer)
Provide financial counseling.
Participate in all loan staff and sales meetings as required.
Adhere strictly to the credit union’s “Member Service Standards”.
Understand and comply with applicable government regulations.
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Must be flexible to work overtime as needed (may include weekends).
