Job Description - Local Driver (Yard Jockey)

Leggett & Platt is seeking a skilled CDL‑A Local Driver (Yard Jockey) to safely and efficiently move trailers within our Berwick facility. This position is essential to supporting our shipping and receiving operations by maintaining an organized and efficient yard.
Key Responsibilities

Move and position empty and loaded trailers throughout the yard.
Spot trailers to loading docks and staging areas.
Maintain accurate placement of equipment and support yard flow.
Perform pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections on tractors and trailers.
Verify trailer numbers, seals, and documentation.
Communicate with shipping, receiving, and dispatch teams to coordinate trailer movement.
Follow all company and DOT safety policies and procedures.

Requirements

Valid CDL‑A driver’s license.
At least 1 year experience as a yard jockey, spotter, or tractor‑trailer driver preferred.
Ability to safely maneuver trailers in tight areas.
Ability to work in outdoor conditions year‑round.
Must be able to climb in/out of tractors and operate trailer landing gear.
Strong safety awareness, reliability, and communication skills.
