Job Description - Lock & Prep

Description

Job summary:

Set up and operate all hand tools required for installing, maintaining, and adjusting all types of locks, fastening devices, and related hardware for steel doors and windows. 

Essential Functions:

  • Works on products using drills, saws, screw guns, air tools, wrenches, grinders, hant tools, and other tools as needed. Installs prefabricated window, door, and finish hardware such as locks, latches, handles, wheels on sliders, weather strip, friction hinges, bi-fold hardware and other miscellaneous hardware.
  • Wears required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and ensures safe operation of all equipment.
  • Works on special projects and performs other duties as needed. 

Requirements

Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Able to interpret instructions both written and oral.
  • Good measurement skills with the ability to measure to 1/32 of an inch.
  • Basic math skills, count, add, subtract and multiply simple numbers.
  • Experience with hand tools and power tools required.
  • Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within the lockset field.
  • Able to read and work from plans, drawings & blueprints 
  • Able to maintain a 70% production efficiency rating.
  • Able to maintain an error rate less than 5%.
  • Able to work with some supervision, 30% or less of schedule.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred. 
  • 1 year working in a manufacturing environment required.

Physical Demands:

  • Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Lifting. Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. This factor is important because it occurs to a considerable degree and requires substantial use of upper extremities and back muscles.· Stooping.   Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. This factor   is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires full motion   of the lower extremities and back muscles. 
  • Kneeling.   Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
  • Crouching.   Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.
  • Standing.   Particularly for sustained periods of time.
  • Pushing.   Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force to   thrust forward, downward or outward.
  • Pulling.   Using upper extremities to exert force to draw, haul or tug objects in a   sustained motion.
  • Visual   acuity requirements. The worker   is required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and   thoroughness of the work assigned.
