Role Overview
Title: Locum Veterinarian
Pay: $150–$170 per hour (varies by experience, skills, and location)
Purpose: Provide preventive care and diagnose and treat diseases and injuries in companion animals.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform physical exams, diagnostics, and basic surgical procedures
- Prescribe and administer treatments and preventive care
- Maintain accurate and complete medical records
- Communicate diagnoses and treatment plans clearly to clients and veterinary staff
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, including controlled substances
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized clinical environment
- Lead and collaborate with the veterinary care team
Required Qualifications
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree
- Active state veterinary license in good standing
- DEA registration
- Ability to perform basic surgical procedures
