Logan County Victim's Advocate

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS

• Associates degree or current enrollment in college and on track to obtain a bachelor’s


• 1-2 years of experience in related work preferred

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide direct advocacy services to victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, and child abuse in Logan County and Payne County

JOB KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

1. Knowledge of community resources and ability to make appropriate referrals.


2. Skill in crisis intervention techniques.


3. Knowledge of the psychological and physical effects of domestic violence, child abuse, sexual assault, and emotional abuse as well as issues of legality and ethics.


4. Skill in serving as a liaison between victims and legal, financial and medical agencies.


5. Able to work within an established system and chain of command.


6. Ability to learn quickly and retain new material.
