Job Description - Logistician for Logistics Support Journeyman
The person hired for this position will be a full-time salaried employee of The Concourse Group and will be eligible for full Concourse benefits. This position will satisfy staffing requirements for a 5-year contract but Concourse prioritizes training, development and retainment so the position is intended to have longevity beyond the contract.
SUMMARY
The Concourse Group is seeking a logistician in a ship building context in support of the high-visibility US Coast Guard Waterways Commerce Cutter (WCC) program. The new WCC vessels are complex, modern, and sophisticated; successfully building these vessels requires exceptional talent.
Ideal candidates bring experience in logistics support in ship construction, high attention to detail, strong communication skills, and a proven ability to document discrepancies and courses of action and recommend cost-effective corrective actions. The ideal candidate will also have a background working for or with the USCG, DOD or DHS. A degree is not required but candidates MUST meet the work experience thresholds in a recent and relevant context.
LOCATION
Work location will be on-site full-time in Bayou La Batre, Alabama. Candidates who are not in the project area but willing and able to relocate MUST clearly state that on their resume.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of ship construction.
Knowledge of USCG and DHS policy, procedures and processes.
Proficiency with MS Office Suite 365.
Ability to recommend improvements to existing or planned logistics processes.
Ability to apply analytic methods or tools to understand, predict, or control logistics operations or processes.
Skilled in technical writing and presentation preparation including reports on logistics performance measures.
Ability to quickly learn how to enter logistics-related data into new databases and maintain the data.
Strong communication and coordination abilities.
Attention to detail and problem-solving.
Ability to meet deadlines and produce quality work.
Leads with a responsive client-first approach.
POSSIBLE TASKS
The Logistician shall manage, and review submitted Integrated Logistics Contract Data Line Item (CDRL’s) procedures.
Review WCC shipbuilder deliverables, including but not limited to Reliability Centered Maintenance procedures and plans. Assess these artifacts for compliance with the WCC production contract and applicable Coast Guard policy documents.
Review technical manuals and documents submitted by the WCC shipbuilder. The types of technical documentation the Contactor shall review will include commercial vendor technical manuals specific to WCC systems and components, general cutter information manuals supplied by the WCC shipbuilder, Technical Manual Validation Certificates, IETP, TDSR of TDOP, Technical Repair Standards. The review of these artifacts shall be submitted to the Government to support the validation of contract deliverables consistent with WCC production contract requirements.
Support the Government in planning for and conducting physical configuration audits of WCC vessels to assess compliance with approved configuration baselines.
Participate in all WCC CCB and PRO Configuration Review Board meetings. Assess the impacts of all proposed configuration and engineering during design and production of WCC vessels, with specific emphasis on logistics considerations for the duration of the WCC life cycle. Expect, at a minimum, to participate in one weekly recurring meeting.
Participate in all WCC logistics related working groups to include internal Government meetings as well as those with the WCC shipbuilder. At a minimum, to participate in one weekly recurring meeting, one monthly recurring meeting, and one quarterly recurring meeting with different stakeholders.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience.
Knowledge of ship construction.
USCG, DOD, or DHS experience preferred.

Must be eligible for a Public Trust Clearance.
