Job Description - Logistics Carrier Operation Lead (EM6998)

 

Position Summary:

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Logistics Carrier Operation Lead to supervise and coordinate daily transportation and trailer aging activities related to carrier operations. This role serves as a key operational support function, ensuring the timely assignment of loads, effective communication with carriers, and accuracy in equipment tracking and yard management. The Carrier Operation Lead also supports junior staff, enforces process compliance, and drives issue resolution to maintain operational flow and service levels.

 Responsibilities:

 

  • Source rail and OTR capacities based on shipment volume projections.
  • Manage carriers to secure equipment availability and assign equipment to designated loads.
  • Assign loads based on lead time, OTRQ, and special shipping requests.
  • Produce regular reports and performance statistics as required by management.
  • Manage container inventory daily and reconcile actual counts with system records.
  • Maintain documentation and ensure accurate and organized filing of paperwork.
  • Handle container yard entries, processing of in/out movements, and related operational support tasks.
  • Support container security and gate operations in compliance with company safety policies.
  • Utilize Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to identify and resolve operational problems.
  • Implement ad hoc innovations to enhance the SAMEX outbound operation.
  • Proactively work with carriers to prevent and resolve issues
  • Collaborating with other teams (Carrier Management, Transportation Management, and Settlement Management) to achieve the goal set by the company
  • Manage Daily Trailer Aging & Dwell : Check In and Out Time & Location of individual empty & load trailer through internal system data, messenger and communication with carriers and enter into Excel
  • Analyze Reasons of Trailer Aging & Dwell : Review individual trailer’s reason and enter into Excel with determination of liability party
  • High School Diploma or higher degree required
  • 4+ years of logistics, transportation, or yard management experience (carrier operations preferred).
  • Strong understanding of transportation and logistics planning skills
  • Direct working experiences with carriers for dispatching, equipment control and tendering
  • Strong knowledge of outbound dispatching, container yard control, and carrier relations.
  • Experience with TMS/WMS systems and operational reporting tools.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and basic data analysis.
  • Willingness to innovate and implement processes while taking care of day to day responsibilities in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to multi-task while maintaining accuracy
  • Decisive and quick problem-solver
  • Excellent oral, written communication skills, MS office programs, ability to draft and edit
  • Required to work on site

Your base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This allows you to progress as you grow and develop within the position. The base pay range for this role is between $28.00 ~ $38.00/ hr., and your base pay will depend on your skills, education, qualifications, experience, and location.
