Logistics Import Specialist - Immediate Start

The Import Logistics Specialist manages the end-to-end function of scheduling and transporting freight from international lanes to the United States.

Compensation Data: Exempt salary based on experience.

Travel: Approximately 10%

Location: Burton, OH - Hybrid (in office as needed)

M-F, 8-5 with flex as hours may vary based on business need.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Determines freight carriers, negotiates freight costs, schedules transportation routes, and tracks container movement from multiple foreign lanes to regional warehouses in the United States.

2. Recommends and implements standard operating procedures and guidelines applicable to product type and country of origin.

3. Complies with HTS codes for products and works with global suppliers to provide accurate product classifications.

4. Communicates with suppliers, freight companies, customs brokers, 3rd party billing company, and other stakeholders to ensure efficient operations and timely delivery of goods.

5. Negotiates service terms with providers, monitors Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and addresses non-conforming areas.

6. Identifies opportunities to streamline processes, reduce costs, and ensure overall effectiveness of import logistics.

What you will need to succeed:

Education & Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, or business administration with 2-3 years of import experience.

Competencies:

· Thorough understanding of international trade regulations, customs procedures, and documentation requirements.

· Knowledge of Incoterms and their applicability.

· Customs Specialist Certification helpful.

· Proficiency in logistics software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.

· Effective communication skills and ability to interact across different global cultures.

· Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.

· Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

· Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and record keeping.
