Job Description - Logistics Specialist - BOSTONtec



Full-time


Description

The Logistics Specialist at BOSTONtec plays a critical role in ensuring timely and accurate shipment of manufactured products. This position serves as the primary link between customers, internal teams, and the shipping department to coordinate all outbound logistics. While much of the work involves computer-based scheduling and documentation, the role also includes hands-on responsibilities such as operating pallet jacks, fork trucks, and other equipment to safely load and secure products for transport. The ideal candidate combines strong organizational skills with attention to detail and a commitment to safety and efficiency in every aspect of the shipping process.

 

Essential Functions, Duties and Responsibilities

  • Optimize the loading of products based on prioritized customer needs and production output.
  • Confirm product correctness per job orders.
  • Maintain appropriate paperwork and documentation.
  • Interact with customers by phone or email to schedule shipments.
  • Work in BOSTONtec Assembly area as needed.
  • Operate fork truck and/or pallet jack to retrieve and move materials and complete shipments accurately.
  • Read and comprehend and utilize Shipping Pick Lists, bill of ladings, and packing lists produced by the MRP systems software.
  • All completed orders must be either set up or shipped off on the day of completion.
  • 5-S: Maintain neat and orderly work area including temporary storage area; break-down boxes, transport trash, and/or packaging materials to dumpster.
  • Use LEAN tools and processes to identify and eliminate waste and participate in LEAN events.
  • Work in an extremely safe manner, following all safety rules and regulations.

  • Aspire for great quality of workmanship, securing of all products, product completeness prior to shipping out goods.

Requirements

  • Shipping knowledge and evident expertise.
  • Ability to direct and effectively communicate with others.
  • Good attendance, work performance, and safety records.
  • Good communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to successfully complete training and receive powered industrial truck license.
  • Ability to consistently perform manual labor and heavy lifting.
  • Must have good vision, including adequate peripheral vision.
  • Must have valid motor vehicle driver’s license.
  • Ability to perform within tight schedules, deadlines, and demands.
  • Ability to prioritize and respond to many simultaneous demands and remain focused on overall job tasks and responsibilities.
  • Ability to use personal computers and applicable software applications - production planning, Internet, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work extra hours as needed, sometimes on short notice.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk, see, and hear.  The employee is regularly required to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and reach with hands and arms.  The employee regularly lifts and/or items weighing up to 75 pounds and sometimes more.  Shared lifting of heavier items is expected.  Minimal travel and/or driving is required.  Noise levels are typically moderate.
