Job Description - Long Term Early Childhood Substitute Teacher
ECE Subhub is seeking 2–3 dedicated Long‑Term Substitute Teachers, along with additional short‑term support, to join GSRP and Head Start preschool classrooms in Ypsilanti. This role is ideal for educators who believe in high expectations for young learners, value strong relationships, and enjoy being part of a positive, collaborative school community.
These classrooms focus on building a community of preschool learners through fairness, respect, and a deep appreciation for each child’s background, strengths, and potential. Substitutes help maintain a warm, engaging environment where children feel supported socially, emotionally, and academically. Classrooms include children with varying abilities, so comfort with diverse learning needs is essential.
What the Role Looks Like
Support GSRP and Head Start classrooms with daily routines and instructional activities.
Help maintain a positive, inclusive classroom culture.
Assist with age‑appropriate learning experiences and district‑approved curriculum.
Encourage positive behavior and help uphold classroom expectations.
Communicate clearly and professionally with teaching teams.
Adapt to different classrooms, teaching styles, and student needs.
Work confidently with children who have a wide range of abilities and support needs.

Working With ECE Subhub At ECE Subhub, you’ll be supported every step of the way. As a substitute teacher, you’ll have opportunities to assist or lead in curriculum implementation, daily routines, relationship‑building, and the overall rhythm of each classroom you support. You’ll gain hands‑on experience across a variety of teaching styles and settings, build strong professional relationships, and develop confidence working with young children. Our substitutes are trusted partners in each classroom, and we make sure you have the tools, training, and encouragement you need to succeed.Minimum Qualifications
CDA, Associate’s degree, or 18+ credits in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field.
