Job Description - Loom Operator

Description

We are seeking an experienced Loom Operator to join our textile manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will operate and maintain modern weaving looms to produce high-quality fabric products while ensuring efficient production and maintaining quality standards.

A Loom Operator is responsible for setting up, operating and maintaining looms to weave textiles, by following standard work methods and ensuring production efficiently, while adhering to safety practices.

Davlyn Group is a fast growing, privately owned technical textile company based in Spring City, PA, just outside of Philadelphia, with additional locations in Norristown, PA and Independence, VA. Through our Amatex, Darco Southern, Davlyn Manufacturing, and Norfab businesses, our products and engineering services are used by thousands of customers in over 50 countries to help keep heat in its place, improve safety, and increase productivity. DGH is a leading manufacturer of technical textiles, fabrics and yarns used in the appliance industry, industrial markets, and personal protective equipment (PPE).

Essential Functions:

  • Operator modern weaving looms under supervision
  • Monitor fabric production and quality
  • Thread yarn through machine components
  • Report any issues to senior operators
  • Measure finished product for quality issues
  • Maintain a clean and organized workplace
  • Follow safety protocols and workplace procedures
  • Work collaboratively with experience team members
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

  • This is an on-site, full-time, non-exempt position. Workdays are Monday through Thursday from 6:00 AM until 4:30 PM, with a 30-minute, unpaid lunch.
  • Departmental demands may necessitate additional work outside of the standard work hours.

Skills:

  • Strong attention to detail
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality
  • Willingness to learn and follow instructions
  • Good hand-eye coordination
  • Basic math skills
  • Ability to read a measuring tape
  • Ability to work in a team environment

Education/Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Previous manufacturing experience (any industry), preferred
  • Interest in mechanical operations

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Travel:

This position does not travel.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. independently.
  • Ability to tolerate prolonged periods of walking, standing, pushing, pulling, or bending
  • Able to perform both gross and fine manipulation

Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics described below are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

  • The work facility may be hot and/or cold, based on the time of year.
  • Many areas of the production floor have a very high noise level. Hearing protection is required in these areas.
  • Regularly work near moving mechanical parts.
  • Tolerate regular contact with fiberglass and fiberglass fibers.
