Located in Waltham, Lincoln, and Wayland, Massachusetts, Carroll School is an independent day school that serves students who have language-based learning differences, such as dyslexia. The Carroll Lower School is located on the Waltham campus and serves grades 1-5.

Position Summary:

The Carroll School seeks teaching candidates with a growth mindset and a true passion and commitment to lifelong learning. We are seeking candidates with experience and/or interest in teaching students with language-based learning differences and who are drawn to acquire the necessary competencies to successfully teach our type of learners.  

Responsibilities: 

• Teach science primarily to 4th and 5th graders in the Lower School and Orton-Gillingham tutorials
• Teach additional language intervention, enrichment classes, and Multis as assigned 
• Homeroom Advisor and lead team time activities
• Formulate lesson plans that meet the curriculum guidelines, including head starting/raising turtles in coordination with local conservation group
• Work with Lower School curricular team to develop and customize grade-level curriculum through a culturally responsive lens
• Supply to school administrators: grade reports and current student progress summaries as requested 
• Participate in school-sponsored professional development and meet the requirement of Orton-Gillingham training
• Develop positive working relationships with all constituencies: students, parents, colleagues, and administration
• May assist in after-school program activities
• Perform duties as required 

Requirements

 Qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education or related field is required
• Master’s Degree preferred
• Orton-Gillingham training preferred
• Minimum of 2 years teaching experience preferred, science experience is preferable.
• Have the ability to teach using multi-sensory education methods
