LPN - FT Days for Inpatient Addiction Treatment

Responsibilities include:

• Completion of nursing admission including review of systems and current medication regimen.
• Establish monitoring needs: blood pressure, weight (edema), blood sugar, infections, cardiac and/or pulmonary status.       
• Establish need for lab work: urinalysis, obtain specimens, document lab results.                                                                                      
• Refer to community agencies for outside appointments and refer to assessment for transport as needed.                                       
• Assess acute illnesses and injuries and treat or refer as appropriate with proper follow-up.
• Assist physician/nurse practitioner. Obtain data as needed for presenting patients.
• Transcribe verbal orders obtained by physician and record appropriately on MAR.
• Keep MAR updated with proper documentation.
• Order prescribed medications and stock medications/supplies as needed from designated distributor/pharmacy.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments to patients.
• Develop and review Nursing Treatment Plans as needed.
• Attend organizational meetings as assigned.
• Maintain a clean and professional working environment.
• Provided patients with education on their prescribed medications and medication regimen.
• Listen to patient needs/concerns and report back to the appropriate counselor/ Director of Nursing as appropriate.
• Provide guidance and supervision to the patients during day shift.
• Document patient related issues/concerns/ unusual occurrences as they occur in each patient’s personal record, as well as document on the 24-hour shift report sheet. Follow-up with the patients listed on the 24-hour shift report sheet.

Requirements

Qualifications:

Possession of current LPN licensure that is active and unrestricted in the state of MD.

Experience:

Minimum one to three years of nursing experience. New graduates or nurses with less experience may be acceptable if approved by Director of Nursing.
