LTL & Truckload Pricing Analyst

Position Summary:

The LTL & Truckload Pricing Analyst is responsible for analyzing, developing, and maintaining pricing strategies and rate proposals for both Less-Than-Truckload (LTL) and Full Truckload (FTL) transportation services. This role supports the sales and operations teams by delivering competitive pricing solutions, performing margin analysis, and providing market intelligence to drive profitable growth.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and prepare LTL and Truckload pricing proposals      for new and existing customers.
• Analyze cost structures, market rates, carrier tariffs,      and service requirements to ensure competitive yet profitable pricing.
• Utilize carrier rate engines, APIs, and TMS platforms      to gather rates and build pricing matrices.
• Partner with sales and account management teams to      understand customer requirements and tailor pricing strategies      accordingly.
• Maintain internal rate databases, customer pricing      profiles, and carrier agreements.
• Perform margin, lane, and profitability analysis on      awarded and active freight.
• Track and monitor competitive rate trends using      internal and external data sources.
• Support RFP (Request for Proposal) processes, including      data cleansing, lane mapping, and bid preparation.
• Develop pricing models and tools to streamline pricing      decisions and improve accuracy.
• Work with carriers and procurement teams to negotiate      better rates or services based on volume or lane-specific needs.

Requirements

  Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance,      Economics, or related field.
• 2+ years of experience in logistics pricing,      transportation analysis, or freight brokerage.
• Strong understanding of LTL rating logic (NMFC, base      rates, FAKs, accessorials) and truckload spot/contract pricing.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables      and advanced formulas.
• Experience with TMS systems, carrier portals, and      pricing software/tools (e.g., SMC³, RateWare, DAT, Truckstop) is highly      desirable.
• Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work      cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience working in a 3PL or freight brokerage environment.
• Familiarity with transportation RFP software (e.g.,      Jaggaer, Coupa, or similar).
• Basic understanding of margin management and cost      modeling principles.
