Job Title: Lunchroom Supervisor

Position Type: Part-Time / Hourly Monday- Friday 9:00 am - 2:00 pm

Reports To: Food Service Manager 

Location: South Buffalo Charter School

Pay Rate: $20.00

Position Summary:

The Lunchroom Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the cafeteria environment during student meal periods to ensure a safe, orderly, and respectful atmosphere. This role includes supervising monitor staff, supporting positive student behavior, and coordinating with food service and custodial teams to ensure smooth daily operations. 

Key Responsibilities:

Monitor student behavior and maintain order during breakfast and/or lunch periods

Promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive cafeteria environment

Address and de-escalate inappropriate behavior using positive reinforcement and school behavior protocols

Assist students as needed, including opening containers and cleaning up spills

Coordinate with Monitors to ensure cleanliness and smooth transitions

Ensure all students are treated fairly and respectfully

Report incidents, accidents, or safety concerns to appropriate staff

Supervise cafeteria entry/exit to ensure safe and timely movement of students

Perform light cleaning such as wiping tables, sweeping floors, and disposing of trash

Work Environment:

Fast-paced and often loud school cafeteria environment

Requires standing and walking for extended periods

Must be able to bend, lift, and perform light cleaning duties

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED required

Prior experience working with children in a school, daycare, or youth program preferred

Prior supervisory experience 

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to remain calm and professional in a busy and noisy environment

Dependability and ability to work as part of a team

Ability to stand, walk, and move for the duration of the lunch period

Must pass background check and fingerprint clearance as required
