Job Description - Lutron Programmer

A New York City electrical contractor specializing in high-end residential work is hiring a Lutron Programmer. Our client works directly with homeowners, architects and designers on luxury residences across the city, and this is the person who makes the lighting and shade control actually work in those homes - and then hands it over so the owner can use it without thinking about it.

This is a field role. Beyond interviewing, initial training and onboarding at the firm's Long Island office, the work is in client homes in New York City.

What you would be doing

Program and commission Lutron lighting control and shade systems in luxury residences. Work from lighting plans and fixture schedules and translate them into system programming. Install and wire low-voltage Lutron control equipment and verify it against the design. Commission systems, and tune and balance scenes with the client, the designer and the lighting consultant. Configure and troubleshoot the network the control system sits on. Set up the Lutron app for the homeowner and hand the system over so they can use it confidently. Diagnose and resolve faults on live systems, on site and remotely. Keep as-built programming, system documentation and service records current.

What we are looking for

Three years working with Lutron lighting control on residential projects. HomeWorks QS and QSX, and RadioRA 2 and RadioRA 3. Ketra, and Sivoia QS shades. Able to read lighting plans and fixture schedules and build programming from them. Low-voltage wiring and installation of Lutron control equipment, and basic electrical work. System commissioning and Lutron app setup. Working knowledge of networking - switches, addressing and remote access. Shade installation and programming is a plus, and a year of electronics installation or repair experience is preferred. A valid driver's license, and the composure to work in an occupied high-end home.

Compensation and benefits

$85,000 to $110,000, depending on experience.

After three months of satisfactory full-time employment the package includes medical, dental and vision coverage, ten paid time off days accrued annually, a pre-tax TransitChek program covering MTA, LIRR, Metro North, NJ Transit and eligible parking, a 401k with a company match of 50% of the first 5% contributed, and company-paid life and long-term disability insurance. Ten paid holidays follow after six months of satisfactory full-time employment.
