MA Ortho Clinic Artesia- Full Time (25-310)

JOB SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the office manager or practitioner performs basic patient care activities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Maintain provider(s) operating room schedule of procedures and diagnostic studies

• Send orders/information and any communications to the respective department in advance for scheduled procedures/diagnostic studies.

• Perform prior authorization of procedures and diagnostic studies, assist provider and office with coding.

• Assist back clinic office in obtaining vitals and rooming of patients when needed.

• Ensure cleanliness of office and examination rooms.

• Clean and store equipment.

• Maintain supply inventory and re-stock as required.

• Perform basic clerical duties as needed.

• As assigned.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILL/ABILITIES:

• Knowledge of clinic front/back-office duties and coding

AGE-RELATED COMPETENCIES: Demonstrates the basic knowledge and skills necessary to identify age-specific patient needs appropriate for this position.

RISK MANAGEMENT/QUALITY MANAGEMENT/SAFETY: Cooperates fully in all Risk Management, Quality Management, and Safety Activities and Investigations.

MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

Education – High school diploma or equivalent; plus, specialized, short-term training in basic patient care.

Work Experience – clinic setting preferred.

Training – Formal nursing assistant and/or medical assistant training recommended.

License/Certification – Certification in Nurse Assisting or Certification in Medical Assisting preferred.

ENVIROMENTAL CONDITIONS: Work environment consists of daily patient contact, which may include exposure to blood, or other body fluids.
