Machine Operator - Cerakote (Robotics)

Position - Cerakote Machine Operator

Reports To - Jonathan Stein, Coating Operations Leader

Shift - Swing Monday – Thursday 2:30pm - 1am (additional time available as need to support the business).

Position Summary

Preparing and coating the components of Leatherman products, such as multi-tools and knives, through aid of a robotic system. The operator must ensure that the components meet the quality standards and specifications before and after the coating process. Other tasks include blasting of components, mixing of the coating materials, loading and unloading of the robotic fixturing, and performing routine maintenance and troubleshooting of the equipment.

What you’ll do

• Run robotic coating equipment and related machinery to prep, coat, and finish components.


• Perform routine set-ups and changeovers to close tolerances.


• Load/unload fixtures, blast components, mix coating materials, and keep equipment running smoothly with basic maintenance and troubleshooting.


• Monitor output and make mechanical or program adjustments to hit quality and quantity targets.


• Inspect parts and finished tools using micrometers, calipers, comparators, and attribute/variable gaging to verify specs.


• Recognize need for process improvements, then take introductory steps toward plan or task.

Safety & environmental responsibilities

• Follow company procedures and Oregon DEQ / federal / local requirements for handling, labeling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials.


• Wear required PPE, maintain accurate container labels/docs, complete company-provided training, and immediately report spills or unsafe conditions.

What you’ll bring

• High School diploma or GED preferred.


• 2+ years of related machine operation experience (intermediate mechanical skills; able to set up and change over equipment) preferred.


• Comfortable reading basic blueprints; solid shop math and basic computer skills.


• Hands-on experience with measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, comparators).


• Ability to read, write, and communicate in English to interpret SDS/work instructions/technical manuals.


• Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles is a plus; NCRC preferred.

Physical demands & work environment

• Frequent standing, walking, balancing, reaching (including some overhead), and handling small components; occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.


• Work in a well-lit, air-conditioned production environment with typical exposure to noise, coolant mist/vapor, dust, and lubricants (managed via exhaust).
