Sinto America Surface Technologies provides precision shot peening, blasting and cleaning services through its National Peening and Technical Metal Finishing divisions.


National Peening is currently seeking a ­­­­­Machine Operator/ Maintenance Floater to join our Team in Statesville, NC.


What You Will Do


A production/maintenance floater is a person with a flexible schedule sharing their time between being a production machine operator and a maintenance helper as needs arise in each department.  This person must have the ability to multitask and be willing to switch job roles at any time it is required.  Although this person directly reports to the Plant Manager, their daily interactions and directions will be received from the Production Supervisor and/or Maintenance Technician.  If any conflict arises, all parties are expected to report these issues to the Plant Manager so a solution can be made in the best interest of all parties as well as the Company.


General


Production Machine Operator Duties



  • Learn and practice proper methods of part handling including unpacking new jobs for processing and packing finished work in preparation for shipping.

  • Achieve forklift certification and safely perform daily operation of forklifts to move material and/or parts around the shop.

  • Learn and demonstrate knowledge of basic elements and operation of various Shot Peen machines such as, controls and functions of elevators, conveyors, wheels, nozzles, lances, fixtures, air pressure gauge, turntable rpm displays, and shot flow rate.

  • Learn to use Almen Gage and Almen strips to verify part processing meets customer requirements.

  • Perform shot size analysis through the use of the Ro-Tap machine to assure the media in the machine meets the required specifications.

  • Learn to read and understand/complete shop floor paperwork to maintain proper records and meet customer requirements.



Maintenance Technician Floater Duties



  • Assist Maintenance Technician ordering required parts and supplies required for machine maintenance tasks.

  • Work alongside the Maintenance Technician as an assistant when jobs being performed are required to have 2 or more people involved due to the complexity of the job and/or safety requirements of the job.

  • Proficient in the use of AutoCad Lt and/or Solidworks to generate engineering drawings of jigs, fixtures, and maintenance repair components.

  • Inspect equipment for any signs of wear, damage, and/or potential and pending  This includes checking fluid levels, belts, hoses, and other critical components so repairs may be pre-planned and scheduled prior to an unplanned breakdown. 

  • Performing basic repairs like tightening loose bolts, replacing worn-out parts, or fixing minor leaks.

  • Maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities, including dates, tasks performed, and any issues encountered.


    


What We Want From You



  • Minimum of a 2 year associate’s degree in mechanical engineering technology or similar 5 year’s experience as a basic mechanical maintenance technician and/or assistant

  • Prefer 5 year’s experience in an industrial type atmosphere

  • Good organizational, communication and record keeping skills

  • Ability to read and write proficiently.

  • Ability to perform intermediate math skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, algebra and geometry.

  • Ability to analyze and resolve mid-complex problems related to machine operation and/or maintenance activities.

  • Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or equipment, and talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk and reach with hands and arms.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
