Machine Operators - 2nd shift

As a Machine Operator at Steel Technologies, your main responsibility is to setup and operate the machine according to customer specifications and work orders. Your detail, safety, and attentiveness are critical to regular equipment inspection and the ability to measure dimensions, align parts and produce material according to production instructions.

How you’ll contribute to our company:

1. Inspect arbor and overarm setups to ensure compliance with production instructions


2. Reconcile coil identity to production and load coil


3. Review and record gauge, width, hardness, camber, burr, and surface condition and ensure compliance with production instructions


4. Set gauge monitoring system (if applicable) and ensure gauge calibration


5. Run coils at maximum speed, ensuring efficiency and accuracy


6. Monitor strip conditions to ensure compliance with production


7. Document strip conditions, gauge as required and ensure customer specifications


8. Band and identify finished goods in compliance with production and complete all proper documentation


9. Remove scrap from machine regularly and empty hoppers as needed


10. Communicate non-compliance production or quality problems to supervisor and/or shift lead

Here’s what is needed to be successful:

• Ability to read and follow all work order instructions and complete documentation


• Knowledge of current crane and forklift operation preferred


• Ability to perform complete setup and operational tasks of the machine to ensure compliance with customer specifications


• Ability to work under little supervision


• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds


• Ability to communicate effectively
