Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Machine Shop Operator to join our team. The Machine Shop Operator will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining machine shop equipment to produce precision parts and components. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude, experience with machine shop tools and equipment, and a commitment to safety and quality. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO :

  • Set up and operate machine shop equipment, including lathes, milling machines, grinders, drill presses, and CNC machines, to produce precision parts and components.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work orders to determine specifications, dimensions, tolerances, and materials for each job.
  • Select and install appropriate tooling, fixtures, and cutting inserts for each machining operation.
  • Monitor machine operation and performance, adjusting machine settings and controls as needed to ensure proper functioning and quality output.
  • Inspect finished parts for accuracy, surface finish, and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks on machine shop equipment, including cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn or damaged parts.
  • Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and perform minor repairs or adjustments as needed to minimize downtime.
  • Follow safety protocols and procedures at all times, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhering to safety guidelines for machine operation and tool handling.
  • Maintain accurate production records and documentation, including work logs, inspection reports, and inventory records.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to identify process improvements, implement best practices, and optimize production efficiency.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Technical or vocational training in machining or related field is preferred.
  • Experience as a Machine Shop Operator or similar role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with machine shop tools and equipment.
  • Experience with CNC programming and operation is a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.
  • Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
  • Excellent attention to detail and quality orientation.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet production deadlines.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts and overtime as needed.
  • Commitment to safety and adherence to safety protocols and procedures.
