Description

 Set up, load and operate lathe to perform training, threading and boring operations as required .   Setup, load and operate EDM and graphite milling machine to required specifications and tolerances 

• Retrieves electrode from storage area and determine if graphite electrode needs to be recert on some block or replaced.
• Retrieves pallet from storage area and assembles electrode pallet system.
• Checks CNC programs and calls into CNC graphite milling machine.
• Sets up cutters in machine, locates electrode in machine and then mills electrode.
• Interprets prints and checks electrode for correct size and quality after milling.
• Retrieves electrode from staging area, set up and call in progress to CNC. EDM machine to perform roughing and finishing sinking operations on various jobs.
• Observes EDM machine for possible malfunction and irregular cutting.
• Makes adjustments on EDM machine to ensure proper cutting. Performs bench operations on graphite electrode using emory cloth and files.
• Checks die for correct size and quality after sinking.
• Files programs and fills out Job Tracking Form cards.
• Sharpens cutting tools as needed.
• Performs minor maintenance on machines such as oiling, greasing and filters.     
• Programs needed CAD data in central system (PC) to generate CAM      data.
• Set-up work in lathe. 
• Set-up tool changes manually.
• Transfer CAD or CAM data from central system to machine control (DNC).
• Program the needed CAM data to generate cutter location file.
• Start machine process.
• Grinds and shapes own cutting tools on a tool grinder when needed.  
• Transports  material and loads and unloads pieces at Lathe area either manually or using an overhead crane or forklift truck.
• Keeps work area in a clean and orderly manner at all times.
• Follows all safety procedures and precautions.

Requirements

Vocational training preferred

Excellent coordination and mechanical skills

Strong attention to detail

Proficient math skills

Basic computer skills

Experience working with machine tools or mechanical assembly
