Summary of Position

Responsible for set up and operation of a variety of machine tools to produce precision metal parts. Loads parts in machine, cycles machine, detects malfunctions in machine such as worn or damaged cutting tools. Ensure products meet precise specifications by applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machine procedures.

Essential Functions

• Performs layouts, sets up, and operates conventional machine tools as required.
• Reads and interprets all drawings, including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
• Design setups and methods where none exist.
• Instructs other shop personnel in proper machining techniques: set-ups, feeds and speeds for both carbide and high speed steel cutting tools, methods and standard operating procedures.
• Improves methods for higher quality and improved costs.
• Assist maintenance in diagnosis, repair, and preventative maintenance.
• Produces small batches or large quantities of metal parts
• Adheres to company and department policies, procedures, and standards.
• Performs other duties within his/her capabilities as determined by management. 
• Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.

Requirements

1. High School graduate or equivalent.
2. Ability to hold close tolerances and conduct component inspections.
3. Demonstrated ability to effectively set up all, or at least most, of the following machines when needed: I.D./O.D. Grinder, Turret Lathe, Horizontal Boring Mill.
4. Ability to perform with a minimum of direct supervision.
5. Working knowledge of tool geometry and application.
6. Working knowledge of effects of feeds and speeds.
7. Willingness to work in a team environment.
8. Ability to work overtime as required.
9. API 5CT & 7-1 knowledge is a must.
10. 4+ years of experience working with down hole fishing tools.
11. Must have a safe driving record and be willing to submit to and able to pass a pre-employment drug test, MVR check and criminal background check.
