Machinists are highly skilled and detail-oriented individuals who are responsible for operating manual and CNC lathes and mills to ensure the production of high-quality parts. We are a job shop who repairs and rebuilds parts for all of Idaho Forest Groups mills. Occasional overtime is required for large projects and mill outages or repairs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Machinists are required to setup, program, and operate CNC and manual lathes and mills.
Ensuring high-quality workmanship and adherence to safety standards.
Interpret engineering drawings and blueprints to produce precise parts.
Inspect machined parts using standard measuring equipment to ensure adherence to tolerances.
Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of machining equipment.
Plan and coordinate project workflows to ensure efficient use of resources and timely completion of tasks.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Other duties as needed.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience in machining operations, with a good understanding of CNC and manual machining techniques and equipment.
Experience in programing for CNC machines.
Skills:
Proven ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
Effective communication skills and teamwork.
Proficiency in CNC programming and operation.
Ability to pass a drug and alcohol test, post-offer pre-employment physical, and background check.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Technical school training or apprenticeship.
Mastercam experience in 3+1 and 4 axis mill programming.
Mastercam experience in 2 and 2+1 lathe programing.
Overhead crane experience.
Valid driver’s license.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS- Production
Ability to sit and/or stand for shift, reach with hands and arms, stoop, squat, bend at the waist, kneel, walk varying distance, and climb stairs.
Bend at waist – frequent
Twist upper body – frequent
Stoop – occasional
Lift above waist height – frequent depending on machine center
Lift over 50 lbs. – frequent depending on machine center
Repetitive use of hands – constant
Stand/walk – constant
Sit – occasional
Vision – near and far correctable; depth perception
Hearing – preferred for awareness of surrounding machinery, mobile equipment, emergencies
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Must be able to tolerate all weather elements, loud conditions, airborne particles (sawdust).
