SUMMARY

Perform diversified duties to set up and mill parts to blueprint, drawing, diagram and written and /or oral specifications under direction of machine shop foreperson.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Read and interpret documents and prints.

Use various indicating tools to load and run parts on existing set-ups. May include indicating and aligning parts.

Check for quality to close tolerances using a variety of measuring devices.

Maintain daily production record.

Maintain a neat and orderly work area.

Observe all health and safety requirements.

Perform other similar and related duties as assigned.

OUR MISSION STATEMENT 

SUMMARY  

This position is required to perform a variety of duties related to the set-up, load/unload, machining, and measurement of large and/or tight-tolerance parts. The employee will operate any of various CNC machines, including Horizontal Boring Mills, Vertical and Horizontal Machining Centers, Vertical Double Column/Gantry Mills, and/or lathes of various sizes and configurations. The employee will also be able to use various inspection instruments to perform precise measurements of critical features. This is generally a production role of tight-tolerance parts that require special care during set-up and/or measuring of features.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. 

• Using drawings and verbal and/or written instructions, perform appropriate set-ups for the machining of tight tolerance parts made from such materials as aluminum, steel, and various steel alloys in various forms to include but not limited to castings, forgings, extrusions, plate or structural forms, and weldments.   
• Work with supervision and Engineering to ensure successful First Part production. 
• Maintain tooling and measuring devices to ensure they are in the proper condition for producing tight tolerances. 
• Use large overhead cranes to load and unload parts from machining center(s). 
• Perform and record measurements/inspections as required.  
• Perform daily machine maintenance and cleaning and maintain a neat and orderly work area.  
• Adhere to Safety policies and procedures at all times.  Promote safety culture throughout the Plant. 
• Other duties as required.

Requirements

REQUIREMENTS 

• High school diploma or GED. 
• One or more years of experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of experience and education. 
• Good work ethic and able to work in a physically demanding atmosphere. 
• Good problem solving/analytical abilities. 
• Able to read and comprehend work orders, work instructions, and specifications. 
• Able to work independently and/or in a team environment. 
• Attention to detail. 
• Be able to climb, squat and stand on your feet for long periods of time.
