Machinist

About the Role
Intuitive Machines is seeking a CNC Machinist to join our team. This position will support the production and manufacturing of aerospace components for the support of our Lunar Lander. The applicant will be located on-site in Houston, TX. The candidate will work in a team on the development and manufacture of flight and ground support hardware.
Responsibilities
Analyzing specification charts, samples and drawings to gain a thorough understanding of requirements
Work with Engineers to communicate needs, tolerances, manufacturability and timeline.
Developing a plan of action to manufacture parts according to specifications
Measuring and marking raw materials needed to manufacture parts
Setting up equipment required to complete each step of the manufacturing plan
Operating equipment to carry out each step correctly
Monitoring the production process and intervening when problems arise
Inspecting finished parts for flaws and defects
Maintaining equipment located throughout the machine shop
A candidate for this position will be encouraged to take on as much responsibility as practical and will be expected to play a role in the manufacturing and implementation of parts that will support or be part of the Lunar program. This includes but is not limited to the Lunar Lander, Payloads support, Test and Verification and others.
Required Education/Experience/Skills
High School diploma or GED required
Minimum 5 years’ experience programming and operating CNC Lathe with Live Tooling and a Sub-Spindle. Additional experience with CNC Mills and Wire EDM a plus.
Proficiency with component design and assembly management using 3D CAD software, preferably Solidworks and Fusion 360.
Familiarity with commonly used space and commercial specifications for materials, processes, fasteners, mechanical components, connectors, wiring, etc.
Experience with Microsoft Office suite.
Knowledge of how to operate grinders, lathes, mills, drills, etc.
Demonstrated oral and written communication skills
Analytical and problem-solving skills to develop effective manufacturing plans based on specifications and drawings.
Problem-solving skills to troubleshoot issues that arise during the manufacturing process
Ability to move roughly 50 to 75 pounds and remain at your workstation throughout the day.
Understanding of health and safety regulations to reduce the risk of workplace accidents
Desired Education/Experience/Skills
Proficiency with ASME Y14.5 geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
Experience with the use of work orders, Drawings and Solid Models.
Familiarity with standard practices for fabricating and manufacturing any number of parts from a variety of materials including but not limited to Aluminum, Steel, Titanium, Inconel and Carbon Fiber.
