Auger Fabrication is seeking an experienced Machinist - Lathe Specialist to join our growing manufacturing team. This position is primarily responsible for setting up and operating lathes to produce high-quality precision components used in the manufacturing of augers, feeder screws, shafts, and related products.
The ideal candidate is a skilled machinist who can independently perform complete machine setups, interpret engineering drawings, maintain close tolerances, and inspect their own work while contributing to a safe and productive work environment.
Essential Responsibilities
Set up and operate manual lathes to machine precision components.
Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions.
Select tooling, establish work offsets, and adjust machine settings to produce quality parts.
Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections using precision measuring equipment.
Edit machine programs and offsets as needed to maintain quality and efficiency.
Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and dimensional issues.
Maintain quality standards while meeting production schedules.
Complete production and quality documentation accurately.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Assist with other machining operations as needed.
Qualifications
Minimum of 3 years of manual lathe machining experience preferred.
Experience performing complete machine setups with minimal supervision.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
Proficiency using precision measuring instruments, including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and indicators.
Strong understanding of machining practices, tooling, workholding, feeds, and speeds.
Ability to machine precision parts while maintaining close tolerances.
Strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
Dependable, self-motivated, and committed to producing quality work.
Experience operating manual machine tools is a plus.
Willingness to assist in other machining areas as business needs require.
