Maintenance / Landscape Assistant
Location: Hillside Boutique Hotel – Castroville, TX

Job Summary:

The Maintenance / Landscape Assistant supports the upkeep and presentation of the hotel grounds, landscaping, and basic maintenance tasks. This position ensures that the property's exterior and interior spaces remain functional, safe, and visually appealing for guests and staff.

Job Description:

• Assist in the care and maintenance of lawns, gardens, trees, and other landscape elements around the hotel grounds.
   
• Operate landscaping equipment such as mowers, blowers, trimmers, and irrigation systems safely and effectively.
   
• Perform minor maintenance repairs including painting, changing lightbulbs, fixing fixtures, and assisting with basic plumbing and electrical work.
   
• Conduct routine inspections of the property to identify and address maintenance needs.
   
• Ensure outdoor spaces (walkways, patios, entrances) are clean, tidy, and free of debris.
   
• Assist with seasonal tasks such as mulching, planting, trimming, and snow/ice removal (as needed).
   
• Respond promptly to guest or management maintenance requests.
   
• Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area.
   
• Collaborate with the maintenance and housekeeping teams to support smooth operations.

Requirements

Education/Formal Training:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
   

Experience:

• Previous experience in landscaping or maintenance roles preferred.
   

Knowledge/Skills:

• Basic knowledge of landscaping and groundskeeping tools and techniques.
   
• Ability to perform physical labor in outdoor conditions.
   
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and safety.
   
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
   
• Good communication and problem-solving skills.
   
• Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks efficiently.
   
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks such as bending, stooping, and standing for extended periods.
