Maintenance Assistant

 SUMMARY:   The position is responsible for keeping our facilities clean and well-maintained. In this role, you perform painting, light plumbing, landscaping, carpentry, and preventive maintenance and repair duties. Reporting to the Vice President Engineering/Facilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

· Inspect buildings, sites and equipment for needed repair / maintenance.

· Respond to emergency maintenance requests.

· Fix minor issues related to electricity, plumbing, and other systems.

· Keep equipment in working order and report any repair needs beyond your scope.

· Troubleshoot issues to determine cause and solution.

· Assist with construction projects.

· Operate forklift.

· Maintain records and prepare reports.

· Follow all safety rules and procedures.

· Other duties may be assigned.

  EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE AND OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES:  

• High school diploma or GED certificate.
• Skills in or knowledge of carpentry, plumbing (preferred).
• Attention to detail.
• Physical stamina to work on your feet, climb on ladders, and lift/move equipment.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Forklift certified (preferred).
• Must possess current CPR/First Aid or willing to get certified within first six months.
• Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to occasionally sit; the employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch; the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; talk or hear.
