Job Description - Maintenance Associate 2

Join our caring community at Sidney Regional Medical Center in Sidney, Nebraska! We are currently pursuing a hardworking and skilled full-time Maintenance Associate 2 to join our Plant Maintenance team. This position requires rotating on-call with a 30-minute response time.

Responsibilities:

  • Install, maintain, and repair machinery, equipment, physical structures, pipes, and electrical systems at SRMC and contracted facilities.
  • Repair and maintain all internal and external physical structures and grounds of Sidney Regional Medical Center properties.
  • Maintain and install equipment and systems.
  • Monitor, inspect, and test machinery and equipment, and performs scheduled preventative maintenance.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and services.
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment.
  • Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test, and make adjustments.
  • Assist with disaster operations when necessary.
  • Repair patient/resident mechanical equipment (beds, wheelchairs, hovers, gurneys, other hospital and extended care equipment).
  • Snow removal assistance when necessary.
  • Maintain and repair kitchen equipment: garbage disposal, dish washer, food carts, and small appliances.
  • Perform minor repairs of building and equipment, desks, shelving, and sheet rock repairs.
  • Trane control system knowledge.
  • If hired for Electrical knowledge – troubleshoot problems in all electrical systems with all voltages 480 volts and below, install low and high voltage systems, and remove and install all forms of equipment in hospital. Preventative maintenance and generalized electrical work.
  • If hired for HVAC knowledge – change or install compressors, fans, freon lines, AC units, split units, air handlers, furnaces, walk-in coolers/freezers, controls, CRAC units, ductwork, chillers, etc. Preventive maintenance and generalized HVAC work.
  • If hired for Construction knowledge – take a construction project from concept to completion. Concrete work, wood framing, metal framing, sheetrock, insulation, flooring, and finish work. Knowledge of all building and fire codes. Generalized construction work.
  • Knowledge and ability to run large equipment: scissor lifts, tractors, payloaders, forklifts, man lifts, etc.
  • Communicate effectively.
  • Promote and ensure a safe work environment.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements:

  • High school graduate or GED.
  • Trade school diploma preferred. Years of experience will be considered.
  • Prefer 10 years HVAC, Electrical, or Construction experience.
  • HVAC certifications, Journeyman Electrical license or higher, or Construction certifications.
  • Must have and provide a current and valid driver's license and automobile insurance in accordance with SRMC Policy.
  • Electrical: Must be able to troubleshoot problems, design, research, order, and install projects from start to finish with little to no assistance.
  • HVAC: Must be certified for gases and able to order. Must be able to troubleshoot problems, design, research, order, and install projects with little to no assistance.
  • Construction: Must be able to design, research, order, and construct projects with little to no assistance.
