Job Description - Maintenance Engineer

Job Summary


We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Maintenance Engineer to ensure the efficient operation, reliability, and maintenance of plant machinery and equipment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning and executing preventive and corrective maintenance activities, minimizing equipment downtime, improving machine performance, and ensuring compliance with safety standards.


Key Responsibilities



  • Plan, schedule, and execute preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities for plant machinery and equipment.

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment faults.

  • Monitor equipment performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives to increase reliability and reduce downtime.

  • Perform root cause analysis (RCA) of equipment failures and implement corrective actions.

  • Coordinate with production teams to ensure timely maintenance with minimal disruption to operations.

  • Maintain maintenance records, service reports, equipment history, and spare parts inventory.

  • Supervise maintenance technicians and contractors during repair and maintenance activities.

  • Ensure all maintenance work complies with company policies, safety regulations, and quality standards.

  • Support installation, commissioning, relocation, and upgrading of machinery and equipment.

  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction, energy efficiency, and process optimization.

  • Assist in preparing maintenance budgets and forecasting spare parts requirements.

  • Ensure the proper functioning of utilities such as compressors, generators, boilers, HVAC systems, and other plant facilities (where applicable).


Qualifications



  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechatronics Engineering.

  • 2–4 years of experience in maintenance engineering within a manufacturing or industrial environment.


Required Skills



  • Strong knowledge of preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance practices.

  • Hands-on experience with industrial machinery, conveyors, pumps, compressors, motors, gearboxes, and utilities.

  • Knowledge of PLC-based systems, VFDs, sensors, and industrial automation is an advantage.

  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.

  • Excellent troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.

  • Good planning, organizational, and documentation skills.

  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) is an advantage.
