Rogers Group is currently seeking a Maintenance Foreman located in Vega Texas, reporting directly to the Plant Manager.  The successful candidates for this role should be an experienced stick welder, millwright or maintenance person who can maintain and repair plant operations including working with crushers, conveyors and screens. The job may also include general work around the quarry operation and other duties as assigned. Hours of operation must be flexible and will require weekend work.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Champion health and safety initiatives to meet or exceed company standards and regulatory requirements for employees and contractors.

  • Track and oversee all aspects of mobile equipment maintenance, including availability, utilization, completed work orders, pre-shift inspections, parts inventory, and predictive sampling.

  • Train and mentor employees on best practices, providing regular feedback and coaching to enhance performance.

  • Collaborate with site management, maintenance personnel, and contractors to develop and maintain an efficient, cost-effective maintenance program.

  • Plan, schedule, and oversee mobile equipment maintenance, including rebuilds and replacements, ensuring timely and accurate execution.

  • Oversee parts procurement for the mobile fleet, balancing inventory to minimize downtime while controlling costs.

  • Maintain an effective minimum parts inventory to ensure operational continuity without excessive stockpiling.

  • Evaluate and prioritize maintenance issues as they arise, ensuring timely and effective resolution of unplanned challenges.

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by identifying opportunities for process enhancements, safety improvements, and cost reductions.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School or Equivalent Required

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the mining industry, preferably in the surface aggregate industry.

  • Heavy equipment maintenance experience required.

     

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Comprehensive knowledge of mobile equipment used in the aggregates industry, including surface drills, bulldozers, front-end loaders, excavators, haul trucks, and more.
  • Expertise in equipment maintenance practices, including inspections, lubrication, planning, scheduling, and adherence to the gold maintenance standard.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting electrical and electronic components (preferred).
  • Thorough understanding of regulatory standards (e.g., MSHA, DMME, and DEQ) and workplace safety protocols.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team effectively, fostering collaboration and accountability.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to solve complex operational and maintenance challenges.
  • Knowledge of storeroom and tool room procedures to ensure optimal inventory management.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to conduct safety talks, risk assessments, and training sessions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email applications.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Perform physical activities such as standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and lifting (up to 75 lbs.) for extended periods (up to 12 hours).

  • Work at heights up to 350 feet and in tight spaces to install and handle heavy parts.

  • Must have visual acuity, good hand-eye coordination, and the ability to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
     

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Outdoor work in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, dust, wet) may be required.

  • Exposure to high noise levels, dust, diesel exhaust, lubricants, solvents, and fuels.

  • Availability to work various schedules, including days, nights, and extended hours during equipment outages.
