Job Title: Maintenance Helper
Department: Operations
Spectrum Management, LLC has been serving the Washington, DC metropolitan area for over 25 years and provides a comprehensive array of services that include construction management, facilities management and real estate development services
Spectrum Management is currently seeking a Maintenance Helper to perform semi-skilled and routine tasks as a helper to Engineering/Facility Maintenance staff at one of our District of Columbia sites.
The ideal candidate will have experience with commercial building operations, familiarity with facility maintenance tasks, basic computer skills and client/contractor customer interaction experience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Carries materials, tools and supplies for journeyman tradesman/ Maintenance Mechanic.
· Builds forms and performs other rough carpentry jobs.
· Keeps typical tools and equipment in proper working order.
· Assists in Mason work, blacktop work, and concrete work.
· Assists in Grounds Maintenance work, landscaping, and may operate tractors, mowers, snow blowers, snow plows etc.
· Assists Electricians and Electronics Technicians in installing, repairing and maintaining electrical equipment and systems, including conduit, wiring, motor generators, transformers, panel boards, boiler controls, electronic devices, and specialized equipment.
· Measures, cuts, and carries wire, conduit tools.
· Assists Plumbers in installing, repairing and maintaining plumbing fixtures and lines.
· Assists HVAC Mechanics in performing maintenance and installing and repairing equipment.
· Assists Roofer in maintenance and repair of slag roofs, gutters, down spouts and kitchen hardware.
· Assists Painters and Glaziers in painting and replacing glass.
· Assists in other maintenance operation and duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
· High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
· Completion of a recognized apprenticeship or trade school and/or experience as a helper to a skilled tradesman preferred.
· Some familiarity with common practices, processes, materials, and tools of one of the skilled trades.
· Facility work order/ticketing system experience required.
· Basic Computer/email skills; familiarity with facility related mobile applications required.
· CFC license highly preferred

· Interest in and willingness to learn a trade.
· Ability to prioritize work requests and work orders according to departmental needs.
· Working understanding of Microsoft Office Suite.
· Ability to work independently or well in a team environment.
· Strong attention to detail.
· Flexibility in a fast paced environment.
· Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of individuals representing diverse cultures and backgrounds and function calmly in stressful situations, which require a high degree of sensitivity, tact and diplomacy.
· Ability to provide prompt, efficient and responsive service.
· Valid driver’s license required.
