Maintenance Helper

Sparrow Company is seeking dependable and safety-focused candidates to work as Maintenance Helpers on an installation and facility support project in El Paso, TX. This position will assist maintenance personnel with basic installation, building maintenance, piping, connections, and general project-related tasks. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with basic tools, construction, maintenance, or job site work and be comfortable working as part of a crew.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

• Assist maintenance personnel with basic installation and maintenance activities
• Assist with basic building maintenance and project-related work
• Perform basic piping, fitting, and connection tasks
• Assist with lamp connections and installation support
• Assist with electrical rail connections while working only on de-energized equipment
• Install and secure supports and other materials as directed
• Use basic hand tools, including screwdrivers, pliers, and other maintenance tools
• Assist with the use of power tools as needed and as trained
• Work from ladders and approved equipment at heights of less than 15 feet
• Safely handle, move, and lift materials and equipment
• Follow instructions from maintenance personnel, project leads, and supervisors
• Properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
• Identify and report potential safety hazards or unsafe conditions
• Work safely and efficiently as part of a maintenance or installation crew
• Assist with general project and maintenance tasks based on site needs
• Perform other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Previous experience in maintenance, construction, installation, building maintenance, or general labor preferred
• Basic knowledge of hand tools, including screwdrivers and pliers
• Basic power-tool experience preferred
• Experience with piping, fittings, connections, or similar hands-on work is a plus
• Previous experience using ladders preferred
• Ability to safely work at heights of less than 15 feet
• Knowledge of proper PPE use and basic workplace safety practices
• Basic hazard recognition skills
• Ability to safely handle, lift, and move materials
• Ability to follow directions and complete assigned tasks safely and efficiently
• Dependable and willing to assist with a variety of maintenance and project-related tasks
• Ability to work effectively as part of a crew
