Role:  Maintenance Manager

Location:  Selko – 1550 Research Way, Indianapolis, Indiana

Hours: M-F (8am-5pm)

Vacancy Type:  Replacement

Why join us

Get ready to Own your career as a Maintenance Manager at Trouw Nutrition, a Nutreco company. As global leaders in animal nutrition and aquafeed, our shared purpose of Feeding the Future is making a positive global impact for generations to come. Join us in this impactful role and help deliver the production of feed, in a sustainable way to a growing population. Own your direction, Own your development and Own your path.

What you’ll do

You’ll own it by taking full accountability for the performance, reliability, and continuous improvement of all maintenance activities across the site. As Maintenance Manager, you’ll lead and develop a skilled team to plan and execute preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance, minimizing unplanned downtime and ensuring safe, efficient operations. You’ll proactively troubleshoot complex technical issues, drive root cause analysis, and implement sustainable improvements while managing budgets, contractors, spare parts, and compliance with safety and regulatory standards. With a hands‑on, ownership mindset, you’ll partner closely with Production and Operations to keep equipment, facilities, and processes running at their best—today and into the future.

Who we’re looking for

We’re looking for a Maintenance Manager who truly Owns It—someone qualified, reliable, and hands-on in leading maintenance operations to keep a chemical processing and production environment running safely and efficiently. You bring strong technical depth to coach a skilled team through complex troubleshooting across mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, automation, utilities, and refrigeration systems, and you take end-to-end accountability for prioritizing work that minimizes downtime. You’re disciplined in preventive/planned maintenance, confident supervising contractors, and comfortable managing materials, spare parts, and maintenance execution with cross-functional partners. You also have a continuous improvement mindset—using root cause analysis methods to implement lasting countermeasures—while rigorously upholding operating, safety, quality, risk, and health compliance (including procedures such as LOTO, confined space, work-at-height/work permits, and ATEX where applicable) and managing significant maintenance spend.

You’ll also need:

  • Bachelor-level technical background (or equivalent hands-on expertise) with broad, all‑round knowledge across mechanical, electrical, automation, pneumatic, hydraulic, and utility systems in an industrial or chemical processing environment.

  • Proven maintenance leadership experience managing and developing skilled, multi‑craft teams (up to ~20 employees), including planning work, assigning tasks, coaching on complex troubleshooting, and supervising external contractors.

  • Strong preventive and corrective maintenance expertise, including creating PM schedules, conducting inspections, planning overhauls, and responding decisively to breakdowns to minimize unplanned downtime.

  • Demonstrated continuous improvement capability, using structured root cause analysis methods (e.g., 5 Whys, 5W1H, 4M) to implement sustainable countermeasures and improve equipment reliability and maintenance performance.

  • Solid compliance and financial responsibility, with experience managing large maintenance budgets ($8–10M annually), spare parts and inventory, and ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and regulatory requirements (including LOTO, confined space, work at height, permits, and ATEX where applicable).

What you’ll receive

As part of Nutreco, you’ll be a member of the SHV family, a diverse group of companies with global footprint. Join us and you’ll gain access to a wide network of expertise and global career paths. You’ll also benefit from the backing of one of the world’s largest privately owned businesses, known for its stability and long-term focus.

In addition, you’ll receive

  • Competitive health benefits – Medical/Dental/Vision/HSA/FSA

  • Disability and Life insurance

  • 401k/IRA - Matching Programs

  • Paid Parental Leave and Tuition Reimbursement

  • 10 Paid Vacation Days to start vacation and then 40 hours PTO and 2 Floating days

  • Annual bonus or Sales bonus programs based on performance
