Position Summary The Maintenance Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operational leadership of the company’s internal Part 145 Repair Station. This role oversees maintenance production, workforce management, workflow efficiency, and service delivery while ensuring alignment with the maintenance requirements of the company’s Part 91 and Part 135 fleet operations. This position supports aircraft availability and charter revenue protection while driving efficient MRO production and customer service performance. The Maintenance Manager works in close coordination with the Part 135 Director of Maintenance to ensure regulatory compliance and operational control alignment and partners with the President/CEO of the MRO to achieve production, financial, and growth objectives.
Key Responsibilities MRO Production & Operational Management
Oversee daily maintenance production activities (to be conducted under the Part 145 certificate)
Manage hangar workflow, labor allocation, and scheduling to meet internal fleet and third-party commitments - daily interaction with Maintenance Control
Ensure efficient turnaround times while maintaining compliance and quality standards
Monitor manpower planning and staffing levels (including mix of FTE/contractors and oversight of overtime) to most effectively support operational demand
Oversee heavy inspections, scheduled events, modifications, avionics work, and unscheduled maintenance
Internal Fleet Support (Part 91/135 Alignment)
Coordinate closely with the Part 135 Director of Maintenance and the Maintenance Controller staff to advise on and support the determination of the priority of maintenance events affecting P135 and P91 aircraft
Support MEL compliance, inspection tracking, and aircraft return-to-service timelines
Ensure maintenance production supports dispatch reliability goals
Assist with AOG response coordination and vendor engagement as required
Note regulatory authority for Part 135 maintenance remains with the Director of Maintenance
Regulatory & Quality Compliance
Ensure work performed under the Repair Station certificate complies with 14 CFR Parts 43 and 145
Ensure adherence to the Repair Station Manual (RSM), Quality Control Manual (QCM), and training program
Partner with Quality leadership to ensure audit readiness and corrective action implementation
Maintain work within the Repair Station’s ratings and limitations
Financial & Performance Management
Assist in the development of capabilities and service offerings under the launch of the P145 operation
Support development and execution of the MRO operating budget
Monitor labor efficiency, throughput, and cost control metrics (including scheduling of hourly employees and overtime levels)
Review work scopes and assist with estimate validation for internal and third-party jobs
Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and reduce downtime
Accountable for utilization and realization metrics, as well as proper controls over overtime
Workforce Leadership
Lead Maintenance Managers/Supervisors, and Production teams
Promote a culture of customer service, accountability, safety, and professionalism
Ensure technical personnel meet qualification and training requirements
Support hiring, workforce development, and succession planning initiatives
Vendor & Customer Coordination
Oversee subcontracted maintenance and vendor performance
Support customer communications for major maintenance events
Assist in resolving production or schedule conflicts impacting internal operations
Qualifications
Minimum 8–10 years of aviation maintenance experience
Minimum 3–5 years of leadership experience within a Part 145 Repair Station or turbine aircraft environment
Strong working knowledge of 14 CFR Parts 43 and 145; familiarity with Parts 91 and 135
Experience managing production workflow and technical teams
Strong organizational and cross-functional coordination skills
Preferred
FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certificate
Experience supporting Part 135 charter fleets (Textron/Citation, Dassault/Falcon, Pilatus products a plus)
Familiarity with maintenance tracking systems (CAMP, Corridor, etc.)
Experience with lean production or process improvement initiatives
